About Us

Collenette Jones is a general practice accountancy firm – but have a quick look at our website and (we hope) you’ll see that we offer Everything* our clients need, all under one roof. We think that’s what sets us apart from our competitors – we are general practice accountants and tax advisors, and we are just as comfortable helping with book-keeping as we are carrying out an audit or giving advice on a business valuation, sale or purchase. Not only that, but our regulated subsidiary – Crossways Trustees – means that we’re able to form companies and provide corporate services, as well as acting as Trustee of a pension fund (or discretionary trust). It’s fair to say our work is varied and no two days are ever the same.

Our audit business makes up around 15% of turnover; accountancy and tax work just over 50%; our trust business 30%; and the remaining 5% being ad-hoc work including business valuation, advisory and liquidation work. Our clients are a real cross-section of Guernsey businesses, large and small – builders, growers, hotels, restauranteurs, shops, other accountants, lawyers, financial services businesses, property investors and people who just want us to take on the hassle and worry of dealing with the Guernsey Revenue Service.

We are a relatively small team – four directors (who between them own the business), eight professionally qualified accountants, one trainee, a number of other staff with accounting technician and / or book-keeping qualifications, a Trust team of four and our invaluable support staff – around 24 people in total. We work hard for our clients  but we all have families and don’t believe in a culture of long hours – we aim to be a business that people are happy to work for, and the majority of our staff have been with us for many years.

About the Role
This is an entirely new role, where the successful candidate will take responsibility for managing the majority of our audit relationships – including planning, assisting the team on site, reviewing their work, and discussing issues with clients. It will also include business development (as we look to grow our audit business) and personal development – our clients expect us to have solid accountancy and tax knowledge, and be able to give advice on all the issues their businesses face. You will be supported by the directors as you learn, but will be given freedom to develop the role and make the job your own.

About You
Our ideal candidate is a professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) accountant with at least five years’ post-qualified experience, highly motivated, and in a manager / senior manager role at a medium or large audit firm. You might be looking to work with a different type of client (we’re less financially-services orientated than many of the larger local firms), or you might be looking for the work-life balance that a smaller family-friendly firm can offer, but either way you’ll have an interest in helping to grow our audit business. You’ll also be keen to develop your accountancy, tax, company secretarial and associated skills so that you can embrace Everything* Collenette Jones has to offer.
