When valuing a business there is usually more than one method available (it is an art, not a science), but parties should remember the valuation is just a mechanism to get a buyer and a seller to agree on a price. For a fair valuation there will typically be a tension between the buyer and seller, both parties should feel as though they could have got a bit more from the deal.
