We are very proud to have provided the Guernsey Sailing Trust with a new 5.8 metre RIB several years ago to support the provision of sailing tuition to young people in Guernsey. Our aim was to help the charity support its valuable work providing free sailing lessons to Guernsey schools as well as its wide range of summer courses.

Being part of an island community, we feel it is important that people have an appreciation of the sea and we are fully supportive of the Trust’s work in making sure anyone, no matter their background, can have the chance to go sailing while they are at school. The RIB continues to play its part in developing the next generation of Guernsey’s sailing and boating community. 

The RIB is a 5.8 metre Ribquest – given the name ‘Seajay’. It has a Yamaha 100 horsepower four stroke engine and is a very dry, stable boat with fantastic handling and grip thanks to its full length multiple chines. It seats six or seven and can carry up to 12 people or 900kgs of gear.

According to the Guernsey Sailing Trust, a RIB is essential to its operation and supports all of their activities: it performs safety and guard boat duties; it is a fast response vessel in the event of an emergency and it provides their students with the opportunity to learn more about powerboating when wind conditions are too light for sailing. The Guernsey Sailing Trust also uses the RIB to offer  powerboat training courses to islanders.  Their commitment is to ensure all islanders have access to sailing tuition, either free through Guernsey schools or at a reasonable price during their summer season. They run a wide range of RYA accredited courses and are very grateful to Collenette Jones for its support. Being a charity, the provision of high value assets to make this possible is always a challenge.
